ISHRAT AKHTER TELLS HOW NIGHTMARE BECAME HER SUCCESS PATH - an international Wheelchair Basketball Player from valley
But who knows what would happen & changes your life completely.
On the 24 August afternoon when security personnels were chasing some miscreants in our lane, few of the security personnels tried to enter our house. I was inside my house with two sisters and my grandmother. we rushed to terrace in fear to hide our selves while this I slipped and fell down from second floor of our house, that damaged my spinal cord and left me physically handicapped. After continues treatment in different hospitals it didn't work enough for me. However, I am still in hope to recover and I regularly consultant my doctor.
Even this tragedy didn't broke my confidence. After lot of hard work I was given a chance to play a selection match at Bakshi stadium Srinagar. And I got selected for national level to represent Dehli.
After that I played second national at Mohali and I was representing J&K. After playing two nationals I attended national camp at Chennai and I was selected for internationl level to represent India at Pattaya Thailand at Asia Oceania wheel chair basketball championship.
I recieved lo of awards at various occasions. I also received state award from Advisor to Lt.governer on the event of Republic day at Srinagar circuit house. On the same Occasion I recieved a district award from DC Baramulla. I was also given an honour as head of "beti bachao beti padao" organisation in Baramulla district.
