About Founder of Kashmir Food Fusion
Why youtube channel
My father loved Kashmiri cuisine and always bragged about it to others.I love wazwan(who doesn't!), but I love wazwan style Pulao a lot. I always end up eating a lot of it at every wedding. So basically I was craving it badly and thought to make it at home. I looked up for the recipe on YouTube but to my utter disbelief, I saw very famous chefs preparing something else in the name of Kashmiri wazwan pulao. It was a disappointing thing to see. Then I asked my husband if we could ask our family chef the original recipe of it and that's how we made our first wazwan pulao at home. It turned out to be super yum. After this I looked up for most Kashmiri recipes on YouTube and yet again saw all non Kashmiri chefs making something else in the name of our cuisine. That's when it struck me that I should start a YouTube channel where I would teach young girls and boys, men and women the real wazwan. And this is how Kashmir Food Fusion came into existence.
How you learned WAZWAN dishes
3. As I said earlier, I knew basic cooking but it would be a big fat lie if I said I knew all wazwan dishes and anybody saying that is for sure lying. Wazwan is cooked by male Kashmiri chefs called wazas and only males at the home supervise it. So women mostly have nothing to do with it. And that being said, I learnt wazwan recipes from our very talented family waza, who very generously gave us all the original recipes. Apart from this, I have authentic age old traditional recipes like FISH WITH RADISH etc, I learnt them from my sister in law. I knew many recipes myself as my mother taught me but I learnt these exotic recipes from my in laws. As I was very young when I got married, I wasn't much into cooking traditional old recipes so my cooking skills improved a lot after marriage.
What About Kashmiri Food Lovers
4. Kashmiris are die hard foodies ( I'm guilty as well). We love our food. We love our culture. We are very generous hosts as well. So food is a very important part of our lives. It connects people. I want all the Kashmiri food lovers to know that cooking all kinds of food is no rocket science. If one wishes, we can make all kinds of dishes at home in a cleaner environment. It's never too late to learn how to cook. I have followers who are men aged 60 and above and they message me that they love watching my recipes and making them. So, I want to give this message to everyone out there that let's preserve our culture, our cuisine. Let's learn how to make it and pass it on to our future generations. Having a pizza is good but nothing can beat our very own Wazwan or Muji Gaad or Kashmiri pickle or Harisa!
What's Next
5. I have lot's of plans for the future in sha Allah. I want to write a recipe book, make an app where I share my recipes and most importantly, if everything goes well, I intend to start my own restaurant where I not only sell Kashmiri dishes but other Kashmiri stuff as well. I get a lot of requests from my subscribers that they want to purchase masala tikki from us, pickles from us. So hopefully in the future, I plan to start something of my own.
For now, I am happy with more than 100K subscribers and a silver play button from YouTube. Let's pray that we cross a million soon.
