Srinagar-based Arshie Khan is a first-time writer. Sunshine Through Icicles, published by Lieper Publication is the piece of work written by a strong-willed Girl, Arshie, who is looking for happiness and her journey in its pursuit. The characters in the book are an assimilation of the writer’s observations, reflections, inspirations and even longings. In a conversation with Kashmir look, she speaks about her book, her inspirations, and her take on love in the present age.
I was born and raised in Srinagar and did my schooling from Mallinson Girls School. Currently
I am pursuing Integrated MBA from University of Kashmir.
I enjoy nature and love to spend time exploring its beauty.
How did you become a writer?
well, its an interesting story. I had always been a studious student at school and never did I thought of becoming a writer. This goes back to year 2011, when I was
in 9th grade that I went to Pahalgam with my family. It was extremely serene and pristine out
there, I just felt some connection inside me. I didn't take it much serious then until erne whole
year passed. During this year the memories of Pahalgam imprinted on my brain rather than
fading away, which is a usual case with memories and since then there is no looking back.
What is you genre?
I mostly write about motivation, self love, life and its challenges, inspiration.
I write poetry, quotes and stories.
How your family do get your ideas and work for?
My family is my strongest support, be it my parents or extended family, they all have stood by
me. They all encourage me to write more and more and are eagerly waiting for another book.
Here, I would like to take this opportunity to say to all parents that support your children for
what they are passionate.
Where do you get your ideas from?
Writing is one of the most powerful blessing from Almighty. Use this skill in spreading positivity
and making lives of people better. Do not chase fame rather provide a value to society.
Choose your words carefully and initiate a positive change with long lasting impact.
What is your message to world?
In the toughest time ever faced by human history, we all learnt the importance of collectively
fighting the odds and making this world a better place to live. No war is important than human
lives, the whole humanity met a humongous crisis and made us realize how vulnerable humans
are in spite of unprecedented technology.
So let us stop chasing meaningless agendas and start building societies based on compassion.
