Graduate students and doctoral candidates in the social sciences and law may apply to the Harvard Academy Scholars program. Eligibility Criteria:
- Doctoral candidates in the social sciences or law must be recent Ph.D. recipients (or comparable professional school degrees).
- To become an Academy Scholar, students still pursuing a Ph.D. must have completed routine training and be well into writing their theses. You must have completed your Ph.D. within three years of the October 1 application deadline if you have completed a Ph.D. program. The Ph.D. or equivalent must have been completed after September 30, 2018, if you intend to submit an application for the October 1, 2021 deadline.
Harvard Academy Scholars Program Benefits:
- Scholars are appointed as resident scholars at the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies, Cambridge, MA, for a period of two years.
- A $70,000 stipend will be paid annually to postgraduate scholars.
- A stipend of $35,000 will be paid to doctoral candidates until they have completed their Ph.D.
- In addition to the already paid stipend, financial assistance for research and travel will be provided.
- Conferences related to them will be funded.
- The cost of health insurance will be covered.
- The teaching of some material is permissible, but not required.
