The University of Waterloo Award 2022-2023 is a fully financed foreign student scholarship. This grant is available for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral study. The scholarship at Waterloo University is worth up to $10,000.

In support of Canadian and foreign students, the University of Waterloo is giving the David Johnston-Lebovic Foundation International Experience Awards to highly successful candidates. Based on the Faculty's prize allocation, qualified students will be nominated. Academic quality as indicated by their application for admission to the graduate programme will be used to select students.

Scholarship Coverage

  1. University of Waterloo Scholarships provide the recipient with the following benefits:
  2. The David Johnston-Lebovic Foundation International Program Awards will range from $2,500 to $5,000 for a one-term study adventure, and from $5,000 to $10,000 for a two-term employment or volunteer experience.
  3. The International Master's Award of Excellence is worth $2,500 every term for a total of six periods.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for University of Waterloo Scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Required Languages: English
  2. Eligible Countries: All World Countries
  3. Candidates who have the good academic standing (normally a minimum 70% average at the undergraduate level; normally a minimum 75% average at the graduate level) are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
  4. Full-time undergraduate and graduate students from any faculty who want to participate in an international experience in Israel, such as a minimally paid or volunteer international co-op work placement, a volunteer placement, an academic exchange, or a study term related to academic requirements, must apply.
  5. International students with a valid Canadian study permit who are enrolled full-time in Canada are charged international tuition rates.
  6. Typically granted to students enrolled in research-based programmes (thesis or major research paper).
  7. Normally only granted to students starting their first term of study (term 1.0).
  8. Students must demonstrate academic achievement using the Faculty's standards.
  9. Students must fulfil their program's academic progress standards and have no outstanding probationary admission requirements.
  10. This grant may be combined with other internal or external scholarships (e.g., UW Graduate Scholarship, OGS, etc). Scholarships are not the same as sponsorship; see the following item.
  11. Students should not normally be receiving foreign government or agency sponsorship (e.g., China Scholarship Council, Libyan funding, etc.) at the same time, nor should they be completely or partially self-funded in excess of the Faculty minimal levels of assistance.
  12. Students who have been grandfathered under the present IMSA programme are not eligible to be considered for an IMAE; however, a student who has already been given an IMSA for a previously completed master's degree may be nominated for an IMAE.
  13. Based on their admissions application, students will be automatically eligible for this prize.
