International students can apply for an A*Star International scholarship to pursue a postdoctoral degree in Singapore. Our post-doctoral scholarships provide advanced teaching opportunities at prestigious universities and labs to help you develop new scientific skills and conduct cutting-edge research in your field of specialization. With the A*STAR International Fellowship, you may broaden your study experience, develop your learning, and make worldwide contacts to further your science career. This fellowship will fully fund your post-doctoral training at premier laboratories across the world. You may connect and create international networks with the worldwide research community with this international exposure. After finishing your postdoctoral programme, you will begin a fascinating career at an A*STAR Research Institute. Scholars will return to Singapore after completing their post-doctoral research training and will contribute three (3) years to the A*STAR Research Institute.

Scholarship Coverage

AStar International fellowship recipients receive the following benefits:

1. The following support* will be provided to successful applicants for up to two years of abroad post-doctoral research training:
2. Monthly stipend for abroad living.
3. Monthly subsistence allowance, including CPF contributions (where applicable).
4. Annual round-trip airfare.
5. Other allowances include: relocation allowance.
6. Allowance for computers
7. Allowance for books
8. Allowance for conferences
9. Annual personal insurance coverage.
10. The preferred A*STAR Research Institute will complete and fund the three-year project.
11. All rates/allowances vary by country and university/lab, and are subject to periodic A*STAR adjustments.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must satisfy the following criteria to be considered for an A*Star International fellowship:

1. Languages required: English
2. Countries that are eligible: Singaporeans and other nations are welcome to apply, however non-Singaporeans must have earned Singapore citizenship prior to the start of the fellowship.
3. Have a PhD within the previous four years.
4. Have a strong record of publishing.
5. There are no outstanding bonds to any institution.
6. Have applied for or are currently applying for a relevant post-doctoral employment at a top international university/laboratory.
7. The AIF is open to PhD candidates who are nearing the end of their studies. However, their AIF award is not validated until they receive their PhD.
8. The qualifying requirements listed above are not complete.
9. Based on current scholarship policies, A*STAR may include additional selection criteria. These policies are subject to change.
