The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports a carefully selected selection of programmes of particular interest to junior executives from developing countries among the many postgraduate courses offered by German institutions of higher learning. The postgraduate courses, which last one or two years, allow young academically trained professionals in leadership positions in developing countries to participate in postgraduate education and training in their specific field or profession. All qualified students are welcome to enrol in the courses. The DAAD only awards these scholarships for postgraduate studies.

The fully-funded scholarships in Germany provide foreign graduates from developing and recently industrialised countries with at least two years of professional experience with the opportunity to obtain a postgraduate or master's degree from a German university recognised by the state or state, and in exceptional cases, a PhD degree and a university degree (master's or doctorate degree) in Germany. Furthermore, if not covered by another source of funding, the DAAD Scholarship 2024 will cover all expenses related to studying abroad, including monthly payment (stipend), health and liability insurance, accommodation, and travel expenses. The DAAD scholarships, however, do not cover tuition fees. Tuition fees are not charged at public universities or the majority of private universities in Germany.

Eligibility 

1. Applicants meet the academic requirements and are expected to successfully complete a study programme in Germany (higher than the average first academic exam result - third higher performance, language skills).
2. They must have a bachelor's degree (typically a four-year programme) in a relevant subject.
3. Applicants must have a minimum of two years of professional experience.
4. Applicants can also demonstrate that their motivation is related to development. Following their training/scholarship, they are expected to assume social responsibility and to initiate and support change processes in their personal and professional environments.
5. The most recent academic degree (usually a bachelor's degree) should have been completed within the last six years.
6. Applicants must be citizens of an eligible country. The list of eligible countries is available on the official website.

Benefits 

1. Monthly payments of 850 euros for graduates and 1,200 euros for doctoral applicants, depending on academic level.
2. Payments will be made for health insurance, accidents, and civil liability.
3. All applicants will receive a monthly rent subsidy.
4. Travel expenses, unless covered by the country of origin or another source of funding.
5. The DAAD scholarship, however, does not cover tuition fees.

Requirements

2. Personally signed CV with current date (please use the sample Europass format).
3. With the current date, personally sign a Letter of Motivation (with reference to current occupation and choice of postgraduate programme (s), two pages maximum).
4. IMPORTANT: When applying for more than one postgraduate course (up to three), you must submit a single motivation letter explaining why you are applying for these specific courses and why you chose that priority.
5. Letter of recommendation from your current employer; the letter must include letterhead, a signature, an official stamp, and be current (not in a sealed envelope).
6. Certificate(s) of Employment from the employer(s) demonstrating a minimum of two years of relevant experience
7. Working experience (after a bachelor's degree) is required at the time of application, as is a guarantee of re-employment from your current employer upon return home.
8. Proof of Language Proficiency:
9. IELTS or TOEFL in English (Note: The institutional TOEFL is not accepted).
10. Copies of academic degrees are required for courses taught in German.
11. Academic transcripts, including grading scale (certified translation if required).
