For PhD scholars, the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies is offering a fellowship. Under this fellowship programme, exceptionally talented scholars can conduct their research and receive technical training. Fellows from all over the world are admitted to the Harvard University international scholarship programme. One can also apply in their particular fields and areas. Recent PhD graduates are eligible for the fully funded scholarship. Candidates for doctoral degrees may also apply for this position. Scholars with a PhD from any university are eligible, so this is not the case. For the Harvard Academy Scholars programme, five to six deserving students will be chosen.

Eligibility  

• Applicants may be from any country in the world.
• The Harvard Academy Scholars Programme is open to individuals who have recently completed or are about to complete a PhD or equivalent doctoral programme (including SJD and DPhil) in the social sciences.
• Applicants must have a promising career.
• The Harvard Academy Scholars Programme will give preference to those who are fluent in a foreign language and are familiar with the history and culture of various countries.
• Only scholars from the social sciences and law are eligible.
• The PhD completion date must be within two years of the starting date, which is 1 August 2023. To be eligible for the 23 September 2023 deadline, you must have completed your PhD after July 31, 2022.  
• PhD candidates nearing completion of their dissertations must submit degree conferral documentation issued by their university registrar's office by 30 June 2023 in order to begin classes on 1 August 2023.
• Finalists must be available for an in-person interview in December 2023. The Harvard Academy will cover the finalists' hotel and travel expenses for the interview in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.

Benefits 

• Shortlisted fellows will be appointed as in-residence for two years.
• The residence will be at the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
• Postdoctoral fellows will receive a stipend of $75,000 per year.
• The Harvard Academy will also cover the finalists' hotel and travel expenses for the interview in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.

• Participants are required to submit a cover letter.
• Your academic field, country or region, specialisation, and proposed research topic must all be mentioned in the cover letter.
• Make sure to include a list of publications.
• You must submit a research proposal of no more than 2500 words to complete your application. Your research methodology, as well as your planned objectives, must be included in the proposal.
• Before the deadline, applicants must submit all required documents and application forms in PDF format.
