The Chinese Government Scholarship is a fully funded program that covers tuition, accommodation, and medical insurance. It also provides a monthly stipend of CNY 3,500.
- International students can join startups in Beijing's high-tech area, the Zhongguancun National Demonstration Zone, and apply for permanent residency under a new policy announced by the Ministry of Public Security.
- The Chinese Government Scholarship—Chinese University Program was created by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to help Chinese universities in certain provinces and regions attract outstanding international students for graduate studies in China.
- Since 2008, the MOE has authorized the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) to recruit full-time master's and doctoral students under this scholarship.
Requirements
To be eligible for the Chinese Government Scholarship, you must:
- - Be a non-Chinese citizen in good mental and physical health.
- - Not be currently enrolled in a Chinese university or have graduated from one more than a year ago.
- - For a master’s degree, have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and be under 35 years old by September 1st of the application year.
- - For a doctoral degree, have a master’s degree or equivalent and be under 40 years old by September 1st.
- - Master’s programs take 2-3 years to complete, and doctoral programs take 3-4 years.
- - Meet any additional requirements set by the university you are applying to.
Benefits
- Tuition fees: Covered by the scholarship.
- Accommodation: Free university dormitory or an accommodation subsidy.
- Stipend:
- Undergraduates: CNY 2,500 per month
- Master’s students/general scholars: CNY 3,000 per month
- Doctoral students/senior scholars: CNY 3,500 per month
- Medical insurance:
- CNY 800 per year per person
- CNY 400 per person for programs lasting less than six months
